Newham property licensing fee revision consultation closed

The London Borough of Newham has closed its consultation on revised property licensing fees. A new fee schedule for the borough-wide selective licensing scheme is expected in Q3 2026.

The London Borough of Newham closed its formal consultation on revised property licensing fees on 11 April 2026. The consultation proposed a phased increase to licensing fees across Newham's borough-wide selective licensing scheme, which covers all private rented properties in the borough.

The proposed fee revisions reflect increased administration and inspection costs. The council received responses from landlord groups, individual landlords, and letting agents during the consultation period. A formal response to the consultation and the confirmed fee schedule are expected to be published in Q3 2026.

Landlords with properties in Newham should monitor the council's licensing portal for the confirmed fee schedule, particularly those with licences due for renewal in late 2026 or early 2027. Landlord Insights will publish the confirmed fee structure when it is announced.
