Southwark selective licensing scheme covers designated wards: check if your property is affected

Southwark Council operates selective licensing in designated wards, requiring all privately rented properties in those areas to hold a valid licence regardless of whether they are HMOs. Additional licensing also applies to smaller HMOs borough-wide.

Southwark's selective licensing scheme targets wards with higher concentrations of anti-social behaviour and poor housing conditions.

The scheme operates alongside borough-wide additional HMO licensing for properties with three or more tenants from two or more households.

Action required

Check whether your Southwark property falls within a designated selective licensing ward using the council's website. Apply for the appropriate licence if required.
