Sourcegov.scot

Scottish Government publishes an operational update on the Tenant Hardship Loan Fund. Eligibility criteria unchanged. Processing times for applications revised to 15 working days.

The Scottish Government has published an operational update on the Tenant Hardship Loan Fund. The fund provides interest-free loans to tenants in financial difficulty to help meet rental arrears or advance rent payments. Eligibility criteria remain unchanged from the most recent revision.

The principal operational change is to application processing times, which have been revised to 15 working days from receipt of a complete application. The previous target was 10 working days. The revision reflects higher application volumes. Emergency processing remains available where eviction proceedings have commenced.

This update is relevant for landlords in Scotland with tenants experiencing financial difficulty. Signposting tenants to available support, including the Tenant Hardship Loan Fund, can help prevent arrears from escalating. Details of the fund and the application process are available on the Scottish Government's website.
