Newham borough-wide selective licensing scheme remains in force until 2028

Newham Council's borough-wide selective licensing scheme, launched in June 2023, remains in force until 31 May 2028. All private rented properties in the borough except in Royal Victoria and Stratford Olympic Park wards require a selective licence.

Newham has been one of the most active boroughs for property licensing enforcement since 2012. The current scheme covers all wards except Royal Victoria and Stratford Olympic Park.

By January 2025, there were 2,480 accredited landlords in the borough.
